Happy Birthday Bob Marley

Happy birthday Robert Nesta "Bob" Marley (6 February 1945 – 11 May 1981)

Black Sabbath minus Bill Ward

Black Sabbath made headlines this week when drummer Bill Ward issued a public statement advising fans that he will not participate in the band’s reunion unless he is presented with an agreement that reflects his contributions to the group’s success and longevity.

Ward basically told fans that he’s not getting what he feels is fair share of the Sabbath financial pie and that he deserves better than what band management have put on the table for him.

Now, the other three original Sabbath members – Tony Iommi, Ozzy Osbourne and Geezer Butler – have responded to Ward’s public news with a statement of their own.

"We were saddened to hear yesterday via Facebook that Bill declined publicly to participate in our currentBlack Sabbath plans,” said the trio. “We have no choice but to continue recording without him although our door is always open... We are still in the U.K. with Tony. Writing and recording the new album and on a roll... See you at Download!!!"

Sabbath are currently working with producer Rick Rubin on a new album, and have a world tour scheduled to start May 18 in Moscow.

The band recently revealed they were planning to finish writing their new album in Birmingham, while guitarist Iommi is also battling cancer.

Mastodon are teaming up with Opeth for North American co-headlining tour that will feature support from Ghost.

About the tour, Opeth frontman Mikael Ã…kerfeldt says, "We're touring North America together with Mastodon soon. Nice! One of the very few metal bands of today that I genuinely like. Good people too! Ghost are coming with us as well, and they are one of the hottest new bands to come out of Sweden in recent years, and I dig them too. I sound like an old fart, don't I? Well, I am."

He continued, "Yet, am I right in thinking that this tour, this line up, is pretty decent? Would you all agree? Not complete s---, is it? Hope to see y'all out there! What are we playing? Not sure yet, but considering the company, maybe we'll have to pull out the big guns from time to time. In order to keep up, I mean."

Bruce Springsteen and E Street Band to play Apollo Theater

Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band will perform a special concert at New York's Apollo Theater on March 9th to celebrate the ten-year anniversary of satellite radio. The show, which is being held just three days after the release of Springsteen's new album, Wrecking Ball, will air live on SiriusXM's all-Springsteen channel E Street Radio. According to a press release, SiriusXM subscribers will have the opportunity to win tickets to the event through email and on-air promotions.
"We are proud and excited to celebrate ten years of satellite radio with one of the most enduring superstars of popular music, and true friends of SiriusXM, Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band," said President and Chief Content Officer Scott Greenstein in a statement. "Bruce's music, now more than ever, reflects the attitudes and controversies, and the personal and national conversations of our time." The Apollo show, he said, offers subscribers a unique opportunity to hear Springsteen and his band "in one of the most intimate and historic settings in the world."
Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band kick off a world tour March 18th in Atlanta, Georgia. Springsteen has yet to announce how the group will deal with the absence of the late Clarence Clemons, though Bruce's longtime friend Southside Johnny recently dropped a pretty big hint. "He’s stealing my saxophone players to replace Clarence," Southside recently told The Record. "We steal from each other’s bands occasionally.”

Children of Bodom new Album

Children of Bodom to Begin Writing New Album in May.

Finnish heavy metal titans Children of Bodom are set to start writing songs for their eighth studio album sometime in May, according to bassist Henkka Blacksmith.

In a new interview , the bassist revealed that the band planned to get to work on writing new songs this year, and would hopefully begin recording as well.

"We’ll do this tour, and then we go home," Blacksmith said of the band's upcoming 15th anniversary tour. "And then we will actually start writing new songs for an album in May and then we’ll go back on tour for summer and keep writing for the that album. Hopefully we can start recording at the end of the year."
